World Pork Expo is BACK and in-person after a two year pause due to the ASF outbreak in 2019 and then the global pandemic in 2020.
Events are held at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines from June 9-11. PigEasy’s booth will be in the Varied Industries Building along the south wall (V725).
The NPPC is monitoring for appropriate safety measures, so we can all expect additional sanitizing stations and more space for social distancing. Biosecurity is old news for us pork producers, so we’ll take all additional protocols in stride for the opportunity to visit with old and new friends in the industry!
In addition to the trade show and hospitality tents, the 2021 World Pork Expo has an extensive line up of seminars and presentations. Technology and analytics seem to take the forefront, along with a heavy focus on sustainability.
WPX has always been known to be the event to attend when you’re looking at building, upgrading, or simply getting a feel for new products and ideas that are out there in the industry. I expect this year will be no different and can already sense an eager energy to be back together again.
Our team has been busy with product development these past two years and are looking forward to showing you our advanced solutions for pork production.
MealMeter system
The MealMeter feed dispenser is an important tool for optimizing feed intake while reducing waste and can now be utilized anywhere in the reproduction cycle where intake is critical (gilt development, breeding, lactation). Each set up will be on display at the PigEasy booth.
While the fundamentals of our feeding system never change, we have modified each option for ideal set up in the various areas of the sow farm. For instance, the breeding set up features a low profile “breeder bowl” so sows will not lose any opportunity for boar exposure during the breeding process.
The lactation feeder features a low mount so 7-10 day old piglets have the opportunity to jump in, play with Mom’s water nipple and lick up her leftover morsels. It has been strongly suggested that this environment is extremely beneficial for the young animals’ gut health and they could be acquiring eating behaviors from the sow to give them an advantage at the next stage of production.
Gilt development is an area where feeders are often forgotten about as there are many more important matters to focus on when doing walk throughs. The PigEasy GDU/Grow-Fin Feeder can help with feed intake and waste in this area of the sow farm. Using the same fundamentals as in breeding and lactation, the feeder needs no adjustment because it is self-regulating.
In finishing, the PigEasy GDU/Grow-Fin Feeder speeds up time spent eating and drinking because the pigs get both needs from one source, which reduces pen aggression. This feeder will be displayed at the PigEasy booth (V725).
BrEasy targeted ventilation
BrEasy targeted ventilation will have an interactive display in the PigEasy booth to show you exactly how it pulls the worst gases from right above the manure line.
With BrEasy targeted ventilation, ventilated “good” air remains in the barn because BrEasy greatly reduces air turbulence typically associated with pit fans. This gives operators more control over the climate and air quality at the pig level.
An Iowa State University study found that BrEasy reduces in-barn ammonia by 32%, odor by 43%. Additional trials found substantial reduction in propane use and mortalities in barns with BrEasy targeted ventilation.
BrEasy baffles have been developed for easy installs in new AND existing barns with pit fans. They are also easy to manage with the turn winches. When you visit our booth, ask our team how we help you with staying on top of management.
ID Cart with Scale
The PigEasy ID Cart speeds up the task of tagging and tattooing pigs. Now we added another capability to make handling pigs easier – weighing. A scale was added to the ID Cart so you can tag, tattoo AND weigh pigs all in one swoop.
Save your staffs’ hands and backs with the pedal operated taggers and make weighing pigs a breeze with this all-in-one cart. A farm utilizing the ID Cart was able to collect, tag and document a litter in under 2 minutes on average.
When you visit our booth to check out the cart, make sure to talk to one of us about the other module options we can set up for you to speed up processing on your farm.
The World Pork Expo is the swine industry’s best opportunity for fellowship and collaboration, which is why we are pleased to be involved again in the event. Please add PigEasy’s booth (V725) to your list of places to stop during your trip to Des Moines in June. We are excited to visit with you!
