Templeton, IA – March 13, 2023
PigEasy, LLC, a family-owned and operated company based in Templeton, Iowa, announced today that the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) had issued PigEasy intellectual property protection in the form of patent US 11,452,281 for its product, the piglet ID Cart.
The ID Cart is a processing cart with foot pedal-operated taggers, designed to tag or tattoo young pigs hands-free. The cart speeds up the task while uniformly tagging pigs, improving tag retention as the pigs grow.
“This was an innovation out of necessity,” commented inventor and PigEasy president Dave Klocke. “Our farm was enrolled in a genetics program that required tags in both ears on day 1, and our staff was getting burned out tagging hundreds of ears daily. I had to come up with something that made the process faster and easier.”
Dave, also a lifetime pork producer out of western Iowa, got to work and the results paid off. “With the ID Cart, our staff was able to collect, tag, and finish the paperwork in under 2 minutes per litter.” Upon request and seeing a need for other programs customers are involved in, PigEasy, LLC now offers an integrated scale option to capture pig litter and individual weights while tagging.
Customization is offered for each cart purchased. PigEasy, LLC can add any tagger or tattooer brand to the cart. Customers can also choose one pedal or double depending on their farms’ needs. The ID Cart also offers a “tagging sheet” where customers can sequence the tags before they enter the barn to speed up the task and improve efficiency.
In addition to the ID Cart, PigEasy, LLC offers a complete line of innovative products focused on increasing pig production and operational efficiency for pork producers. All products are developed and used in Klocke’s own sow farm near Templeton.
